Hex was former rebel with the southern cavalry during the Civil War, who became a bounty hunter with a history of violent success, and a cemetery's worth of wanted men under his belt. He has killed more men then Hell has souls. And at Halloween, exactly 125 years ago, Damien Hex met his maker.
Years earlier, Hex hunted down and killed an Apache man who was guilty of killing some of his own people, then trying to place the blame on an innocent. The father of the killer was the tribe medicine man, and a very proud stubborn man who refused to believe the truth about his son. He became obsessed with revenge, and wanted Damien Hex dead. After several failed attempts, he accepted that Hex could not be killed by any man alive. He realized the only people who could kill Hex was already dead. So he had to raise the dead to get his vengeance.
With nothing but revenge and ill intentions on his mind, he unearthed the rotting bodies of some of Hex's previous kills, including his dead son. Using dark magic he then animated the dead, and inadvertently transformed himself into a gruesome, hulking creature of evil. Past the point of no return, he set out to a small deserted township on this very spot, and that was the last time Damien Hex was ever seen. Or that's how the story goes…
